Anti-reflective screen (Redirected from X-Brite eco)

An anti-reflective screen is an electronic display with an anti-reflective coating designed to reduce glare. An anti-glare screen usually refers to a screen that reduces glare using a matte finish to scatter light, rather than reducing the amount of external light reflected.

Anti-glare LCDs were introduced in early 2003 to the Japanese consumer laptop market. They achieved lower glare by using a polarizer with a matte finish. The finish scattered external light, thereby reducing the amount of external light reaching the eye. Unfortunately, this also diffused the internal light of the display, resulting in side effects including increased blur and eye fatigue, and reduced contrast ratio, colour intensity and viewing angle. Anti-reflective screens use an optical coating to reduce reflection from the surface without affecting light emanating from the display. Display manufacturers use various trade names to describe this technology.
